Poor little Bean
Tues night Sophie was running around with her brother when she fell and landed on her hand. The next day she was still crying when I gave her a bath and when Nana picked her up from preschool ( Lexie had an ortho apt) she was having trouble pulling up her pants. Her doctor is closed on wed.'s but the nurse told me to take her to urgent care for an xray. At urgent care they told me that her hand was okay and to ice it. Tonight they called and told me the radiologist looked at the films and that she does have a small fracture. I thought the radiologist had already looked at it. I guess the dr is the one who made the decision that it was fine. They wanted to refer us to an ortho dr, but I think we'll get our regular doctors opinion tomorrow. Poor baby!

The Child
After preschool, Sophie and I went to one of her favorite places to eat, Poppa'a Hot Dogs. It was really busy and we had to stand and wait for a table. As we walked over to get our drinks, Sophie dropped down and grabbed my ankles and started screaming for me to pick her up. I bent down and said " child you're going to make mommy fall down". Standing next to us was an older man with biker clothes on and a long white beard. Sophie was terrified of him. Somehow she thought that I called him child and decided that was his name. Unfortunatly, he ended up at the table next to us and sat closest to Sophie. She started screaming that the child was going to get her. She climbed over me to sit farther away. Then everytime he looked in our direction she started yelling that the child was going to get her and eat her french fries. The "child" didn't think this was funny, although everyone else in the restaurant did. He moved to another table when one came available and then gave us angry looks until he left (which didn't help). Sophie was so distracted that we ended up bring her hotdog home so she could eat in peace. Kids are so funny.
Happy Birthday Sophie!!!!
Sophie is turning 3 on Tues and Kimie is 30 today so we had a party for them this weekend. I just can't believe that my little girl is so big. The time goes by so fast. She has been so excited about her birthday. We had Backyardigan hats and plates and balloons. She got lots of pretty new clothes and some playdough from her cousin Jack. Nana gave her a special dress to wear to her party that had the number 3 on it. She and Jack got very silly and very messy feeding each other cake.

The White House
Today we were looking at the calendar and realized that our trip to Washington is just 2 weeks away. Time is just flying by. We are taking the older two kids to see the Smithsonian and to take a tour of the White House. They are so excited. They want to see everything! Ben's parents live not far from DC so we'll be staying with them. John William's favorite movie is National Treasure ( we're so excited that a new one is coming out in Dec.) and he can't wait to see all of the history that he learned about in the movie. Even though I have told them over and over again that it won't happen, they hope that they can see President Bush or the scottie dogs. How nice that they are just as excited to see the dogs as they are to see our countrys leader. :)

The kitten is gone
One of my friends down the street decided to take the kitten. Lexie is sad that we aren't keeping her. I only told her over and over again that we were finding a home for the kitty, but I think she thought that she could talk her daddy into keeping it. No such luck. At least we know where the kitty went and we can see her all the time. That makes me feel better. So now we are back down to 4 dogs and 3 cats. The house feels so empty :)

We found the kittens
So quiet
Ben just left for work and I drive afternoon carpool this week so the older kids were picked up an hour ago. Sophie is still sleeping and my house is so quiet. This was a very hectic weekend. I had outpatient surgery on Fri and I stayed in bed or on the couch most of the weekend. I got a good look at my house this morning and I'm afraid. Ben and the kids sure had a good time. There are chocolate chips all over the floor of the pantry. Last night for dinner we had steaks and brownies. I went to pack the kids lunches and found a super sized box of candy bars and 4 different kinds of chips. But the cats are out of food and are stalking me. Men are so different! But everyone made it out alive, he even took the older kids to a birthday party yesterday while Sophie and I took a nap. Lexie spent most of the weekend in search of some kittens that we think are loose on our street. She put out food and water and spent a lot of time in our backyard calling for them. She's so much like her mommy. She really has a heart for animals. Ben, of course, spent just as much time telling her that even if she does find them that we're not keeping them. NO MORE ANIMALS! But he said that when we only had one cat. He's just not an animal lover like his girls are. I'm looking forward to being home alone today after Sophie goes to preschool so I can get some laundry done and look for the rest of the suprises left for me:)

Happy Birthday Daddy!
It was Ben's birthday yesterday so we had our family party this weekend with the whole clan. Ben had his favorite lasagna, which he helped make. He also got 2 cakes this year because he wanted a carrot cake and Brad and the kids don't like nuts. So he also got a chocolate cake. Yummmmmy! Mom even brought over a birthday crown for him to wear.

Sophie's first day of preschool
Today was Sophie's first day of preschool. She has been so excited about starting! She walked right in to the class and kissed me goodbye and went to sit on a beanbag chair and read books. When I picked her up she told me what a great day that she had at her new school. She got to play on the playground and learned a new clean up song. She got to use her new pencil box and do a craft with her glue sticks. She loves her new teachers. I was so sad to leave her, but I'm so glad that she had a good day.

Vegas!!!!
My husband is the very best. He is such a great husband and dad. In November I am going to Las Vegas with my best friend Robin. We're going to a wedding. Ben is going to stay home and play "mom" while I have some adult time. He knows how important it is for me to have some time to myself with my friends. He is so good about staying in with our little ones while I go to the movies or have a girls night. In Feb. he took vacation and stayed home while I went to Virginia when Robin had baby Reese. I got to be there for the birth and stay for 10 days. It was wonderful! I just started looking for plane tickets to Vegas and got all excited. Now I really need to hit the gym. Think I can loose 10 years of baby fat all in 3 months :)
